Atelier LaDurance is a small scaled, independent French denim label that has the passionate drive to make top crafted products. Based upon stylistic durability, emotion and magic. Articulating a well considered choice: «capitalising on quality, instead of quantity».
Their professional experience, acquired over the years, enables them to work only with a top selection of materials. Like for example, rare first choice quality denim, manufactured in the century old weaving process and indigo dyed. An ability that few other companies can boast of.
Keeping the tradition alive today means having employees who have all been selected for their skills and craftsmanship. Experts who can express their passion for jeans tailoring while adopting the progress of modern technology.
Atelier LaDurance’s exclusive products are developed in a small studio at The Provence, France, in the plains of Les Alpilles. The manufacturing of the products is small in number, with a limited run. Styled in the authentic late 40's style that stands out for both form and finish.
On each Atelier LaDurance denim product you'll find our famous «Repair Capsule», containing: Two original 2-color brass buttons, a small piece of denim, a small piece of pocket lining plus a thimble. Being exactly everything you need to carry out your own emergency repairs.
The Atelier LaDurance concept is developed without the use of a marketing orientated brand strategy. It is our specific small-scale context that builds, directly, a personal relationship with the shops that sell. And indirectly, the people who buy the Atelier LaDurance product.
Wash and care
Atelier LaDurance offers only unwashed denim products. The classic tradition of how all utility wear used to be sold in the past. Unwashed denim is a sturdy fabric that gets a natural weathered appearance, over the time. Rich variations and nuances of shading and roughness of texture are what gives a «well-worn-in» garment its unique personality. The individual character of yesteryear-utility wear garments, was mainly archived by heavy treatment, and permanent wear.
Since the establishment of the label in 2002, all Atelier LaDurance denim products are designed with the legendary «crosspatch» pocket. Consisting of four individual pieces stitched together with dual colored thread. A refined detail that becomes more visible only through frequent wear.
Washed with outstanding laundry recipe, a «well worn in» denim garment will usually far exceed it’s owner’s expectations of performance.
Here the Atelier LaDurance washing recipe:
1. let your garment get dirty for as long as possible
2. First wash: dry clean only
3. and wear again for a long period
4. following washes: add simply 250 grams of salt and one half cup vinegar( per garment) to the washing powder as this will keep tone of the indigo for a long period. While giving deeper shades and higher lights to the natural worn denim product. Only wash once every tow month or less.
