What is RSS?

RSS stands for "Real Simple Syndication", it is a cross-platform xml based format. It is used to exchange news and other web-content. RSS-Feeds can be recognised by a mostly orange coloured button with letters RSS or XML on it.
Some web-browsers like Firefox now have built in RSS recognition, displaying a special icon if you come across a website offering RSS-Feeds. A Newsfeed mostly consists of a titel with a link to the URL of the full article and a short lead text.
